Our Mission is to create a place where athletes with disabilities can come to be accepted and understood while being able to experience the joy of soccer. We want to teach our athletes the values of teamwork, perserverance, and unity that can be learned few places other than on the field, with other athletes just like them.
Our Vision for the future is that these TOPSoccer athletes will learn that there is no defense strong enough to stop them from making any goal they want to achieve. Meanwhile, we hope that the eyes of the community can be opened towards accepting and understanding people with disabilties.
"Brick walls are not there to keep us out. The Brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something."
-Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture
Beachside TOPSoccer is a community-based program for athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer volunteers. This program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl who is at least 4 years old and who has a mental or physical disability. Our goal is to enable young athletes with disabilities to be able to experience teamwork, compassion, friendship, and acceptance. Beachside TOPSoccer wants to help athletes with disabilities score goals, and subsequently reach their own!
There are many local soccer programs here in Brevard County. These programs have recreational and competitive teams available for participation. However, these programs may be too demanding for an athlete with disabilities. Beachside TOPSoccer is flexible, patient, and understanding towards the unique skills and abilities of each athlete. Games and activities are created to fit the athletes' skill levels. Players are grouped by ability rather than age to ensure engaging and fair competition. This program makes it easy for athletes with disabilities to participate in soccer with others just like them!
